About me
I always hate this part, because, as an enneagram 4, I always feel more complicated than what I can put concisely. Oh well, here goes. I grew up in Oklahoma City, OK, went to inner-city public schools and always dreamed of living in a small rural town for the relationships. As a girl raised in the Church of Christ, I came from a very musical family. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma in Musical Arts, specializing in Vocal Music Education. Ever the free spirit, I went on to receive a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma in Instructional Leadership & Academic Curriculum, specializing in English Education, with a master's thesis focusing on Autobiographical Writing and its role in educators' lives. For about 10 years, I taught piano part-time until my third child was born. Then I began focusing on homeschooling and writing reviews for the Homeschool Review Crew, all while trying to walk in the Light a little more than before.
My husband, Mr. Butler received his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and his MBA from the University of Oklahoma, making him so much my opposite in the workings of his brain. He’s brilliant and maddening to this little artist at heart, but he is without a doubt the best thing that every happened to me! He is very invested in spending quality time with his family, but also working hard in hopes of retiring early to continue that quality time when they are older. Woodworking, model cars, finances, cooking, and picking up the slack in the STEM homeschool department when I start getting weary.
We have been married for over 15 years, have 3 beautiful children and 1 dog. Nothing is easy, but I’m thankful I get to make my life messes with them!
